ตอนนี้ VMware vSphere มีการ update version เป็น version 4.1 และให้เปิดให้ download แล้วค่ะ

* Memory Compression เป็นการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพของ Memory ขึ้น 30% จากเดิม
* DRS Host Affinity กำหนด policy ได้ ในระดับ virtual machine
* Storage I/O Control สามารถกำหนด QoS และ priority ของ virtual machine ที่ใช้งาน storage ได้
* Performance Reporting ทำให้รายงานเรื่อง performance ดูง่ายและละเอียดขึ้น
* Network I/O Control สามารถกำหนด QoS และ priority ของ virtual machine ที่ใช้งาน network ได้
* Availability เพิ่มความสามารถของ VMotion และ HA ให้ทำงานได้รวดเร็วขึ้น
* Security สามารถ authen กับ Active Directory ได้ อย่างดี
* Scalability เพิ่มขีดความสามารถในส่วนของ Datacenter ให้รองรับได้มากขึ้นดังรูป
* Hardware Compatibility Llist (HCL) เพิ่มจำนวน Hardware ที่รองรับมากยิ่งขึ้น
โดยครั้งนี้ VMware แยก feature ที่เพิ่มขึ้นมาออกเป็นสองส่วนคือ Enterprise และ SMB ส่วนที่แสดงข้างบนนี้ เป็น feature ใหม่ ๆ สำหรับ Enterprise เท่านั้น ในส่วนของ SMB ก็คล้าย ๆ กัน แต่ไม่เยอะเท่า Enterprise ที่ต่างกันก็จะมี VMware Go ซึ่งเป็นส่วนที่ช่วยติดตั้งให้ง่ายขึ้นเท่านั้นเอง

7. Memory Compression – Sitting squarely between physical RAM and disk swap, memory compression now adds to the already impressive memory handling features in ESX.
8. vMotion Enhancements – Faster VM migration (up to 8x I’m told), and Maintenance Mode evacuation now runs up to 8 simultaneously.
9. ESX/ESXi AD Integration – Integration with MS Active Directory allows user and group authentication to be managed centrally. Best part is that the configuration can be rolled into your Host Profiles for ease of deployment and configuration.
10. Virtual Sockets – VM’s can now be configured with Virtual Sockets and multiple Virtual CPU Cores.
